Hub (garage)

assembly structure shelter

An enclosed 2×1 hub from the 1,33 m module — a lockable garage volume with floor, walls, roof and a door. Storage on site without a building.

  • Type: Structure
  • Status: In use
  • Primary function: storage / garage hub

1. At a glance

Specification Value
Footprint 1,33 x 2,66 m
Height 1,33 m
Volume 4,70 m3
Total weight 34,5 kg
Assembly time . (to define)
People needed . (to define)
Tools Hammer (optional, for pins)

2. 3D model & steps

If the model doesn't load, open it in a new tab.

3. Parts (bill of materials)

Everything you need to build one garage hub. All tubes diameter 50 x 2 mm wall. Click a part for specs and handling.

Part Qty Spec
Straight tube 20 1329,4 mm
T-connector 24 2 per connector node
X-connector 12 1 per connector node
Locking pin . 1 per tube-connector joint
Panel (floor/wall/roof) 10 1329,4 x 1329,4 mm
Panel door . (to define)
Corner profile . (to define - floor / flat / right-angle mix)
Corner hinge . (to define - for door)
  • Connector nodes: 12 (each = 2x T + 1x X)
  • No diagonals - the garage is a panelled box, braced by its panels and corner profiles.
  • Tubes total: 20 - tube length: 26,59 m
  • Tube weight: 21,6 kg - connector weight: 12,8 kg - total: 34,5 kg

4. Assembly

A panelled box on a 2×1 footprint. Each node = the connector assembly (2x T + 1x X), joined by tubes.

  1. Lay out the base. Set connectors in a 2×1 rectangle.
  2. Connect with straight tubes.
  3. Add the verticals. One straight tube into each node, pointing up.
  4. Close the top surface with straight tubes.
  5. Add the floor panels with aluminium corners.
  6. Add side and roof panels, joined with aluminium corner profiles. Leave the door opening open.
  7. Hang the door on the aluminium door hinge.

Each step maps to a stage in the viewer above.

5. Safety & correct use

Build safety

  • Pinch points at every connector and panel edge - keep fingers clear when seating joints and profiles.
  • Don't hammer pins with the frame unsupported; seat the joint by hand first.
  • Panels are rigid and have weight - handle with two hands.

Use & load limits

  • Max roof load: . kg (to define / test)
  • Do not climb on the roof unless rated and ballasted.
  • Wind: above . km/h, the closed box is a sail - ballast or take down. (define - enclosed volume)
  • Lock the door; don't store hazardous or heavy loose loads that can shift.

Ballast / anchoring

  • Footprint anchoring with water weights at the corners - the enclosed volume catches wind.
  • Ropes to fixed points where available.
  • Minimum ballast: . kg per corner (define per configuration).

6. Takedown & storage

  1. Empty the hub and remove ballast first.
  2. Lift off the door, then roof and side panels.
  3. Remove corner profiles and floor panels.
  4. Pull top pins, lift off the top surface, pull verticals.
  5. Break the base. Nodes can stay assembled for next time, or break to flat-pack.
